Chayil, a Reah Fragrance

The Hebrew word "Chayil" is fascinating to me. Used over 200 times, it is transliterated as "excellent" in Proverbs 31:10 (NASB), describing a godly woman. The rest of the chapter outlines the characteristics of virtue, valor and strength that inspired this fragrance.

In other passages, Chayil describes the bravery and fearlessness of mighty armies of men. Our strengths are different from a man's but no less effective. Every woman needs a reminder of her Chayil.

The Chayil woman begins her day by spending time with the LORD, clothing herself with His vitality like the bright citrus top notes in this fragrance inspired by two classics, Chanel no5 and Shalimar. With each spray, she commits her day to serving Him in all she does.

Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men,

knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance.

It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.

Colossians 3:23,24

During her daily tasks, woodier notes emerge reminding her she neither toils alone nor unseen. His presence within her provides the strength and courage she needs and her excellence far exceeds that of precious gems.

Now, my daughter, do not fear. ...

for all my people in the city know that you are a woman of excellence.

Ruth 3:11

By the end of the day, gentle notes of vanilla bring calm, grace, and comfort to those who rest in her arms, serving as a reminder of the sweetness of the One who loves her.

Every woman needs to be reminded of her excellence, valor, and strength--her Chayil.
